THE SYNCRONICITY OF THE INTERNET – BLACK TALKS BACK

YOU KNOW WHEN TWO POSTS IN YOUR FEED FROM TOTALLY DIFF PEOPLE BUT ABOUT THE SAME THING IN DIFF WAYS? Usually that thing is “wow 2 sky pics” or “3 food pics” BUT THIS TIME IT WAS ACTUALLY THINGS I CARED ABOUT!

Today I finally watched Issa Rae’s OINTB parody video which didn’t making fun of the show so much as use the show as a relatable reference to address issues in pop culture LIKE WHITE IS THE NEW BLACK? WHAT EVEN STEREOTYPES?

THEN I ran into this song called “Bee.Em” by I.atasha a.Icindor THAT IS IN PERFECT DIALOGUE WITH THAT TOPIC.  A great rapper, I.atasha a.Icindor bluntly details the BITNW look by distinguishing what is ripped off and what is ripped out in clever homage to black living, history, and soul set to a beat so raw with flow so hard there’s no time for negotiation. Seriously, she goes DOWN the list and reads it!

I love wpoc creators yall. And I love when totally separate things end up perfectly relating to eachother. Find your part in the conversation! Party good and make noise before its made for you!

PS. Yes, both mention Miley Cyrus, but its not ABOUT her. So please don’t take this opportunity to defend Miley the individual, instead think about the dynamics deciding success in Entertainment.
