Janiva Ellis – “SKINBODY”

Our friend Janiva had her senior show at California College of the Arts last night. It was the first time people really got to see her work and we were blown away the more we looked at each piece! Her large portraits capture odd/dazed/alarming moments, infuse lightness through floral motifs and are thick with technique— some of our favorites: The hair in the last blue piece has a crackled look up-close, highlights/shadows and attention to detail especially with lips. We’re always excited to support her as a friend and even more enthusiastic now that she’s shared her work with the world!
