Highlight Reel: AfroPunk Fest 2013
We went to Afropunk not really knowing we’d end up in a paradise rampant with beautiful people of color showcasing artistry both on the fringe and epicenter of cross-generational culture.
We met with a bunch of up-and-coming folks who were genuinely down to share their stories and support. It was a really humbling experience recontextualizing the Browntourage lifestyle in a space rich with history and alignment with our values. Afropunk is a place for people to participate and revel in success via the path less travelled, which is what we try to pay homage to through our Alternative Role-Model series.
It all made sense being there- everything our senses took in was delicious, from the food to the knowledge bombs shared with strangers to the moshing and the turn-up hyphy trains. Here’s a highlight reel for those who missed it or need to re-live it!
