Heems – Soup Boys

Heema just dropped a new video for Soup Boys, produced by Lushlife. The vid opens and closes with an Obama interview questioning his personal stance on armed drone attacks. In between, we find Heema doing his chill thug thing in front of a green screen. His low key commentary on drones is a light hearted way of poking at a very serious issue. Reports state that for every 1 terrorist targeted by armed drones, there are 50 civilian casualties. These targeted attacks are under the Obama administration, and although I am happy we aren’t inaugurating Mitt, it’s important to stay critical of American policy. That said, the imagery of this song is another politi-pop infiltration of young minds via Pitchfork. Shoutout to Heems and Das Racist (RIP) in general for playing checks and balances on the production of culture in the most give-a-fuck/not-giving-a-fuck way possible.
