I remember when this video came out I got SO excited, and NONE of my TX highschool friends believed Darel was played a girl. The concept of drag was very alien to us to the point that we didn’t think anyone actually did it (and if we did, we rarely imagined them as girls pretending to be boys).

This video definitely stayed with me when I joined an improv team later in college and insisted upon the idea that it’d be funnier if I played “male” roles. That way we also get to laugh at the idea of it being a male role too. (or at least I did). Ahhh! It’s fun to be outside yourself.
