CHRISTINA VIDAL 

All the love for Taina gave me the courage to finally post about my childhood love Christina Vidal. I always related to Taina because her name was almost like mine (Tonia), AND cuz she was brown with attitude. From then on anytime I saw her I would get so stoked and say “GOLLYGEEPERS IT’S THE TAINA GIRL!!” to which my lame Texas friends would ignore me. Then I’d recite the completely-memorized-theme-song and it still wouldn’t help. (Fact: she sang that themesong herself!)

BRINK:

This movie was amazing and she REPPED IT FOR EVERY TOMBOY / POTENTIAL FUTURE LEZ OUT THERE! I was so attached to her character it wasn’t even funny. The picture above is from when she got hurt in the movie from pebbles intended for stupid brink. WHAT LOYALTY RIGHT? Homegirl was all about the crew mentality. Fuck X-blades.

FREAKY FRIDAY:

Alright so I forgot she existed by the time this came out, AND WAS SO EXCITED TO REMEMBER HER! It’s like she knew all the different phases I was going in and channeled girl-garage-punk pretty well and ACTUALLY SANG THE SONGS IN THE MOVIE.

This concludes my ode to Christina Vidal. Thanks for giving all us roudy brown girls someone to forward to on screen.
